A History of Helldivers 2: The Reclamation

The Automatons had been eradicated from the galaxy... but somehow, they returned.

Last time on A History of Helldivers 2, we explored the back-and-forth battles between Super Earth and the Automatons, a war that involved a protracted campaign on Malevolon Creek, the introduction of Gunships and Factory Striders, and, on April 7, 2184, the complete eradication of all Automaton “life” from the galaxy.

With the success of Operation Swift Disassembly, the citizens of the galaxy could finally relax. No more would these deadly robots capture hard-working and industrious citizens with the intent of sluicing them into biological fuel for their mechanical contraptions. The entire western sector of space was clear; a beautiful sight. With this victory, Super Earth High Command ordered the commencement of Operation Acreage, which would construct several E-710 farms. These facilities would be fully equipped to handle any Terminid evolution, granting them spacious enclosures, adequate nutrition, and necessary enrichment.

The Helldivers, of course, answered the call. Hellmire, Estanu, and Crimsica all fell before their might, allowing the Super Earth Armed Forces to move in and begin construction. The Terminid threat was contained into a quarantine zone; over time, that zone could be converted into E-710 farms, allowing for unprecedented progress of science and technology.

Just when the future seemed its brightest, catastrophe struck a mere two days later, on April 9. Despite the valiant efforts of the Helldivers, the Automatons returned in greater numbers than ever.
