Helldivers are heading to Cyberstan in a new Galactic Offensive

The Helldivers and Automatons have been at odds since the earliest days of the Second Galactic War, and Super Earth is finally taking the battle to their capital planet: Cyberstan. Cyberstan is the home of the Cyborgs, the enemy faction from the first Helldivers. After the events of the first game, the Cyborgs buckled down and built the deadly Automatons. The Automatons have been a thorn in our side ever since, and worse yet, they've stolen the plans for the Star of Peace.

In case you haven't been following the plot of Helldivers 2, you should probably know that the Star of Peace isn't really that peaceful – in fact, we recently used it to blow up a whole planet. The Major Orders since have dealt with re-arming the Star of Peace, only to discover that an enemy had stolen the plans. After invading Illuminate territory, it became clear that the squids were innocent (of this specific charge – we can assume they're still guilty of anti-democracy measures) and the Automatons were to blame.

Invading Cyberstan is going to take some significant firepower, but the trailer shows that players will be getting a new vehicle: specifically, a tank. The first vehicle capable of transporting multiple Helldivers was the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle, which is indeed quite fast, but has the nasty habit of flipping and killing everyone inside. The newest Warbond, Siege Breakers, also releases today on Feb. 3; players can unlock more robot-killing tools, like an explosive melee hammer and a belt-fed grenade launcher. We'll have to see how the specifics of this offensive play out, but Super Earth doubtlessly has a foolproof plan that won't backfire like some previous decisions.
