Highguard's new 5v5 mode is so much better, but highlights how hard it is for games like this to succeed

Highguard's devs made some big improvements at high speed last week. But is that enough these days?

Last week, Highguard came out, and I dove in to give it an honest shot. It’s a game that I thought was kind of fine, most of the time – but the second you start losing, it just feels completely and totally obnoxious. Highguard is a game that falls apart for one of the teams every match, basically.

Well, in an extremely impressive feat of game development, the team at Wildlight Entertainment put out an experimental 5v5 mode of their main raid game type less than a week after launch. This is an increase of two players per team, so four extra players per match.

And you know what? It’s way better.
