Steam Next Fest highlight: Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road
This big, stupid toddler town has no wheels, and yet it rocks and rolls on its own

Monsters are Coming Are Coming! Rock & Road is a long and off-putting title for one of Steam Next Fest's best demos this October – and for what is now one of my most anticipated games.
The premise is that it's a tower defense/city-builder game where a massive castle kind of just ... rolls mysteriously south on the screen (a la Mortal Engines) while you, a peon, run around helping it kill enemies and supply it with resources like in a Survivors-like. There's a real franticness that comes with both managing your town while running around as a Just A Little Guy™.
See, there's a lot you can be doing while your town is on the roll. You can spend your time killing enemies with your hatchet – you'll get more weapons to play with as the battle rages on – or clear the path ahead of your town so it doesn't get stuck. You can chop down trees to get wood, which you can deposit into the town to increase the fire rate of its towers.
