Can you travel back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2?

Death Stranding 2 starts with Sam connecting up Mexico. A few hours in, though, that's unceremoniously completed and you head to Australia. If there as anything left to do in Mexico — lost cargo, standard deliveries, or even finding The Artist and The Bokka — you kind of abandon it. But only for a while.

This BigFriendly.Guide will tell you when you can get back to Mexico and how the not-quite fast travel works.

Before we get to that, though, a warning: We'll have to talk about events and developments 10+ hours into On the Beach's story. So: spoilers ahead.

When can you go back to mexico in Death Stranding 2

After you finish connecting Mexico to the chiral network, you'll fight a boss, learn about the DHV Magellan, and meet its crew, and then head to Australia. Also some other pretty brutal story stuff will happen, so ... prepare yourself for that.

After making a few connections, you'll head to F1 — West Fort Knot. There, you'll have a(n extremely cool) boss fight and reconnect with an "old friend." After that, you'll unlock a new feature — chart course — for the DHV Magellan.

How to fast travel in Death Stranding 2

Charting a course and sending the Magellan through the tar currents both is and isn't fast travel. From the map, you can move the Magellan to any (major) knot that's connected to the network. And that includes Mexico — when you're charting a course, hit L1 or R1 to switch continents.

If you're on board when you do so, you'll instantly travel to your destination. So, yes, fast travel.

The more interesting use of it, though, is that it lets the Magellan be both your point of departure and destination on deliveries. Since the Magellan has more storage space and a garage, it's a good place to start any order. It's also a good place to drop off any extra stuff you've found once you're done with a delivery.

You can move the Magellan with chart course at any point. So, while you're traveling, you can just open your map and move the ship to your destination.
