How to fix the battery percentage on your Switch 2
This Big Friendly Guide will walk you through booting your Switch 2 into Recovery Mode and (hopefully) fixing the battery percentage issue.

There's an occasional error popping up with the Nintendo Switch 2 where the battery percentage displayed on the screen and the reality of the battery's charge remaining don't match. Namely, the percentage displayed is much lower than the actual charge left in the battery, per Nintendo. And the fix is booting your Switch 2 into Recovery Mode, which is a whole thing.
This Big Friendly Guide will walk you through booting your Switch 2 into Recovery Mode and (hopefully) fixing the battery percentage issue.
Update to the latest System Version
Before anything else, you should check that your Switch 2 is running the latest update. From the home screen, head to System Settings and then scroll all the way to the bottom for System. The first option is System Update. Click it and make sure you're up to date.
How to boot into Recovery Mode

Now that we know the system is up-to-date, it's time to switch your Switch 2 to Recovery Mode.
- Turn off the console by holding the power button for three seconds. Then choose Power Options and Power Off.
- Hold down both the volume up and volume down buttons, and then hit the power button. (This is a little tricky since the buttons are so small and close together.)
- Keep holding the volume buttons until the Recovery Mode screen pops up.
A quick note: You can't use a controller for this part — at least, my controllers wouldn't connect.

Reaching this menu, according to Nintendo, is enough to reset the battery percentage indicator. All you have to do now is power off the console again by holding the power button down — this time it felt more like five seconds than three.
Once it's powered down, you can hit the power button again to turn the system back on.
