How to unlock the Duchess character in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Duchess is the first of two unlockable characters in Elden Ring Nightreign — the other is the Revenant. She's a high Intellect, Dexterity, and Faith character that acts as both an assassin and a support character. Her passive allows her to dodge extremely quickly, and her Restage skill lets her repeat any damage a foe has recently received. Her ultimate is where the support aspect comes in — she can make her entire team go invisible.

In this BigFriendlyGuide, we're going to walk you through how to unlock the Duchess by finding the Old Pocketwatch.

The Old Pocketwatch is an item that drops at the end of an Expedition, similar to the (many) relics that can appear in the post-Expedition screen. However, the Old Pocketwatch will look notably different than the relics you're used to. That it's a Pocketwatch and not a rock is a dead giveaway, but it also has a green dot in the bottom right of its item portrait.

To get the Old Pocketwatch, you just need to progress through the Tricephalos expedition and reach what seems to be any night boss. When the expedition ends, even if you fail, there's a chance to receive the Old Pocketwatch alongside any other relics. While we got it from a random failure, we've seen several other reliable sources say that the Old Pocketwatch is guaranteed to drop from Gladius at the end of the expedition.

Once you have the Old Pocketwatch, you can use it in place of any green relic at the altar. However, if you want to unlock the Duchess, you'll want to talk to the Priestess character near the eponymous round table in Roundtable Hold. When talking to her, pick the top dialogue option, which says "show her the old pocketwatch." When prompted, give it to her and a cutscene will play. The Priestess will remove her cloak to reveal that she's been the Duchess the entire time, and she'll permanently join your roster of characters.

Unlocking the Duchess not only allows you to increase your playable character options, it also enables you to unlock the Revenant, which is the eighth and final character in Nightreign.
