The best Battlestar Galactica game is disappearing from Steam on Nov. 15
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is making an FTL jump off Steam on Nov. 15
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, arguably the best game to make use of the BSG license, will be delisted from Steam on Nov. 15. Developer Slitherine didn't provide a reason for the game being delisted, but it is likely related to licensing and the upcoming Battlestar Galactica: Shattered Hopes,, a new title slated for launch in early 2026.
Anyone who previously purchased BSG Deadlock and its associated DLC will be able to hang onto the game in their library, but it will no longer be available for purchase from the Steam Store. Although the title is still available on GOG, it's unclear whether it will remain purchasable on that platform.

Clearly targeted at fans of the BSG reboot from 2003 (turns to dust) BSG Deadlock is an excellent space strategy title that expands on the fiction by throwing you into the chaos of the first Cylon war as you attempt to stem the onslaught of sentient machines (relatable).
The robust, single-player portion of the game features several XCOM-like campaigns, where you're tackling the logistics of putting out fires and prioritizing threats across the 12 colonies of Kobol. On a tactical level, you'll plan out the moves of your ships individually and have them executed simultaneously with the enemy's turn.
While you have a variety of expendable munitions at your disposal (yes, including nukes), battles play out like naval combat in space as you attempt to provide optimal firing arcs for your ships without leaving them exposed.

Many of the classic BSG vessels make an appearance, including Battlestars, Base Stars, and Vipers, but Slitherine expanded the catalog of available ships significantly over the eight pieces of DLC delivered following the game's 2017 launch, with a design language mirroring the 2003 show.

The upcoming BSG title, Shattered Hopes, is taking a far different approach, with Roguelike gameplay that appears to emulate something more akin to Crying Suns or FTL. While I'm excited that we'll be getting a new BSG game in the year 2026 courtesy of Dotemu, it's unlikely that it will approach the scale or spectacle achieved by BSG Deadlock.
BSG Deadlock is currently only available for full price on Steam, a $125 purchase with all its associated DLC. However, you can currently pick up the entire package for 50% off at GOG.com. (And, in case it's not obvious enough, I highly recommend you do that!)
