Dave Bautista will be Daddy Kratos in God of War following Ryan Hurst's on-set injury
From "Why is Gamora" to "Boy", Dave Bautista is our new God of War
You read that right: Drax himself will be taking the lead on Amazon Prime's God of War live-action television series.
Reported by Variety, The former Guardians of the Galaxy star and WWE World Heavyweight Champion will pick up the reins as Kratos following the torn bicep injury, which required surgery, that Ryan Hurst received after filming only a few episodes of the upcoming series. Hurst appeared to be a great fit for the role and shared a photo of himself in his Kratos makeup and costume. He clearly has a love for this franchise after playing Thor in God of War: Ragnarok, but unfortunately, the injury left him unable to go on.

Bautista's casting might just be the best-case scenario following Hurst's departure; there are few people I can imagine yelling "BOY!" at Atreus with such gusto as Bautista can muster.
Bautista joins an outstanding cast of actors, including the legendary Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Severance's Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, and many more. The young Callum Vinson will continue to portray Atreus but per reporting from MP1st, there are casting calls for both an older version of Atreus and to find an actress for Thrud for Season 2.
Filming on the series is expected to resume soon, with reshoots of scenes Hurst had completed. The project is expected to wrap up in 2027. Thankfully, both Seasons 1 and 2 are filming back-to-back, so we shouldn't have to wait 5 years between seasons again.
