Pacific Drive dev announce upcoming expansion Whispers in the Woods
Pacific Drive will be getting 8-12 new hours of content with the upcoming Whispers in the Woods expansion
Pacific Drive was one of my favorite releases of 2024, a tense adventure through the supernatural and spooky Olympic Exclusion Zone. The player has their wits, a few handy tools, and their handy station wagon. Developer Ironwood Studios has announced an expansion pack for the game, Whispers in the Woods, and it looks like the player will be dealing with some cultists deep within the Zone's forests.
The Steam page describes Whispers in the Woods as an 8-12 hour story that can be started at any point after the first few hours of the game, with "a fully voiced journey filled with a new cast of characters and additional side narrative to discover." Whispers in the Woods can be started on both new and existing saves, and it adds a new system called Artifacts, which add "bizarre and inexplicable new effects" to your ride. Artifacts increase the challenge of a given expedition, but give powerful benefits, introducing a new risk/reward balance to consider.
Players can expect new anomalies and behaviors, more Route Modifiers, and plenty of new cosmetics for their car. Whispers in the Woods is set to release before the end of the year, so I'm excited for an opportunity to return to the Olympic Exclusion Zone. I'm sure these ominous, red-lit environments will be totally chill, and I will not be frightened at all.
