Soulframe opens invites and reveals a massive fall update with wolf mounts and fishing
Sign up for Soulframe Preludes tonight, and you'll get access to Digital Extremes' second live service game
While Digital Extremes is best known for Warframe, the developer has been quietly building a second live service game set in a sweeping fantasy world. Soulframe clearly draws inspiration from epics like Elden Ring, but the game has lush, gorgeous environments full of wildlife that stand out in a genre often populated by ancient ruins and long dead civilizations toppled by their own hubris.
Soulframe is still relatively early in development, in a pre-alpha state known as Soulframe Preludes, and invites are often closed with a few exceptions. For TennoCon, Digital Extremes is opening the door. Anyone who registers during TennoCon weekend, before July 12th, will receive an email granting them access to the game.
Digital Extremes also showed off an upcoming content update to Soulframe, giving insight to the mysterious origins of the Envoy, the player character. Much like Warframe, Soulframe is updated with new cinematic chapters called Fables that reveal more about the world, telling a story with dangerous challenges and boss battles.
The next Fable, Warsongs, has the Envoy face off against an antagonistic Templar with a crow companion. The Templar offers glimpses of the Envoy’s upbringing and childhood. In one memorable sequence, the player, as a baby, is spirited away during a castle siege. You don’t play as the baby, of course — that would be ridiculous — you control a courageous beaver that spirits the baby down the river in a wicker basket.
In addition, the player will get to meet an enigmatic, caged Empress voiced by Jennifer English (which is always a good sign), who offers a new path that’s perfect for edgelords, pulling on the malevolent power of old gods.
Warsongs will also allow players to ride with friends in wolf packs and partake in the humble hobby of fishing. The Warsongs update is expected to arrive sometime in Fall 2026. Registration is currently open on the official Soulframe site; after the deadline, Soulframe will be closed once more, with access sent out in small batches.
