Suda51's new game releases in February
And it makes no goddamn sense in the best possible ways.
Goichi "Suda51" Suda has been making games for 20 years now. There's not really a consistent style or theme for the games he's made, but they do have some things in common — they're style-heavy, grimly funny, chaotic, often incomprehensible, and, above all else, weird.
Suda51 is responsible for games like Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer7, Let It Die, and one of the best titles released for the Wii, No More Heroes. Suda's next game, Romeo is a Dead Man, just got a release date.
Romeo is a Dead Man follows half-dead FBI Space-Time Special Agent Romeo Stargazer as he travels through space and time hunting criminals. That's what the press release says, anyway. Not much of that comes up in the release date trailer above.
Our hero, Romeo, wears a mask called Dead Gear that saved his life, trapping him in time moments before his death. It also broke the universe. Also, he grows(?) a cybernetic arm. Also also, there's multiverse shenanigans. And his girlfriend(?), Juliet, is missing. And his sidekick is a talking patch on the back of his jacket. And there are lots of zombies. Did I mention Suda makes weird games?

Both the release date trailer and the announce trailer are chaotic collections of clashing styles, ultra-violent gore, confusing dialogue, and hyper-stylized action. In other words, they're absolutely perfect for a Suda51 game and I cannot wait to be equal parts baffled and entertained.
The press release closes with a parting shot at a recently delayed game:
“Now we've won our game of chicken against *cough* a certain twice-delayed 2026 release, we can reveal our cards and confirm we never intended to launch in May in the first place,” Executive Director/Scenario Writer/Producer, Grasshopper Manufacture, Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda, said. “We're warping space-time to put the finishing touches to ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN ahead of its launch next February.”
"Episode 1: Romeo Dies" releases on Feb. 11, 2026. From both the website and press release, I genuinely can't tell if this means it'll be an episodic release, a multi-part story, or if that's just a subtitle. And I absolutely do not care.
