It's the one where we chat with the folks behind Mewgenics, a tactics game coming next year

Last week, we launched a pretty cool new website called Rogue. We all like it, and you folks seem to like it too, which is a real delight and relief for all of us. We also launched a podcast called Rogue Signal! This is only our second episode, and we've already managed to grab some exciting guests.

The first half of the show is business as usual, featuring Alice, Cass, Jeff, and Ryan chatting about the cool games they've all been playing — including the excellent and occasionally spiteful Hollow Knight: Silksong. (You can see the full list of games we discussed below).

In the back half of the show, Ryan sits down to chat with Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (The End Is Nigh) to discuss their upcoming project: Mewgenics. If you're unfamiliar, Mewgenics is a cat breeding game that's also a tactical RPG filled with abilities that you can use to customize your cats and their offspring. It comes out in February of next year, and you can watch Edmund run through how the game works in a gameplay video we wrote up last week. It's a really great conversation about their design process, and the challenges of game development (and what gamers might not fully understand about it). Enjoy!

This week, Alice, Cass, Jeff, and Ryan chat about:

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • The King is Watching
  • Trash Goblin
  • Static Dread: The Lighthouse
  • Tiny Bookshop
  • Palia
  • Peak (and the imaginary haters that empower us to succeed in video games)
