Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is an alright time with friends, but that's not really enough anymore

The world of Aliens is back. And it's totally fine.

The first Aliens: Fireteam Elite game was a little janky and the second one is no different. But the first one came out in a very different time.

It was August of 2021, we were still in the global pandemic, with most people only barely able to get the vaccine and start going out safely. It was a time of unriddled friend gaming. What else were you possibly doing? So you would spend a week on Destiny 2, then jump to Warframe, and then, fuck it, you want to shoot Aliens for a week? Maybe casually drop 100 hours on it? What a time to be alive.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is hitting at a very different time. Not only are we no longer stuck inside, we're also inundated with more fun co-op games every day. The age of "friendslop" has arrived, and its grip is iron. So how does something like Fireteam Elite 2 compare to Meccha Chameleon or Peak or Big Walk? Well, it doesn't.

The thing that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 does well is give you exactly what you paid for. You boot up the game, you pick a class that throws some weapons from the world of Alien your way, and then you launch into Left 4 Dead style missions where you use those weapons to ... kill Aliens.
