Ambrosia Sky: Act One is a unique, melancholic spin on sci-fi

Ambrosia Sky: Act One, the debut title from Soft Rains, is a contemplative and thoughtful game that sets up larger mysteries.

I have to admit, I love exploring a massive sci-fi facility that has fallen to some sort of terrible threat. If you show me a far future catastrophe contained within the claustrophobic halls of a space structure, I’m immediately locked in. When I think about these experiences, though, I picture the gruesome horror and/or breakneck action of games like Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol, Cronos: A New Dawn, Prey, or even Warframe. So when I tried the demo for Ambrosia Sky, a similar story with a much softer touch, I was immediately intrigued. Now, Act One of the game has released on Steam with two successive Acts planned for 2026.

The elevator pitch for Ambrosia Sky is, as I noted in my demo impressions, that you’re Samus Aran with a spray gun. Act One isn’t very long – I wrapped up my playthrough in three and a half hours – but it expands on this pitch very well. It definitely manages to deliver on the story front, but the spray-ing element needs a tune up.
