Rogue Recommends: Steam's Autumn Sale 2026
Steam's Autumn sale will roll through Oct 6, and here are our recommendations
The Steam Autumn sale is here, and it’s due to run until Oct. 8. The fall Steam Next Fest will kick off shortly after that on Oct. 12, which means that this is a bustling month for gaming. As always, the Steam sale has a few modest deals on recent big ticket games (Resident Evil: Requiem is 30% off, for instance), but we’re going to try to highlight some of the deepest deals and a few hidden games.
Warhammer 40K deals
Mechanicus is a X-Com-esque strategy game that pits the transhuman Adeptus Mechanicus versus the ancient Necron race. It’s currently slashed to 95% off, which is under $2. That’s a ridiculously good deal for a solid tactics game that shines a light on an underappreciated 40K faction.
Meanwhile, if you prefer Space Marines and their brand of action, Space Marine 2 is 75% off for $15. The campaign alone is worth $15, and there’s a ton of side PvP content with tons of cosmetics for all the various Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.
Owlcat’s giant CRPG set in the Warhammer 40K universe is on sale for 70% off, making it just $15, and I’d recommend Rogue Trader to new, curious fans and tabletop veterans alike. You take the role of a privateer gifted with massive political and social powers by the theofascist Imperium of Man out on the fringe in the dangerous and contested Koronus Expanse. It's an enormously flexible narrative RPG with a cast of compelling companions. -CM

Death’s Door
Death’s Door is an underappreciated action-adventure game about being a crow reaping souls and kicking ass. If you like Hades and Cult of the Lamb, this one’s worth picking up, especially at 90% off – just under $2. -CM

The Outlast Trials
I was very skeptical about this game when I first heard about it in 2024, because turning some excellent first-person horror games into a live service loop is a difficult task to pull off well. Red Barrels have proven they succeeded with a tense, scary, and downright ugly co-op horror game that uses the online format as a potent storytelling tool. Right now it’s 90% off, down to around $4. -CM

Marathon
Nothing hits like Bungie’s gameplay, environments, and deep, immersive lore. Marathon has all of that and, soon, it’ll have even more. Now is a perfect time to jump in with the upcoming refresh on October 6th, wiping everyone's progress and gear to start fresh alongside a new balance update. Bungie is also introducing dedicated PvE and PvP modes in December alongside a new map and more. You can jump in right now for only $24. -ADF

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
There are few sandboxes as responsive and immersive as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Poor Henry begins his adventure waylaid, ambushed, and robbed. After barely escaping, he has to set out to navigate a power struggle and burgeoning war in 1403 Bohemia, and do a silly amount of side-quests along the way. The base game is 22.50US; there are additional bundles that are also on sale with the prequel, all DLC, and a combo sale with massive medieval strategy game Manor Lords. -CM

Fallout 76
Fallout 76 has been on a quiet redemption tour starting with the massive Wastelanders update, and Bethesda has been consistently improving on Appalachia with free updates and events. We know that in the summer, the game will be expanding even further into the Capital Wasteland with the new Raven Rock expansion. If you’re a Fallout fan, then you’ll find something to enjoy, and it’s been marked down by 75% to $10. -CM

Destiny 2: The Collection
There aren’t many games out there that feel as good as Destiny 2. Bungie’s 9 year old MMO-lite looter shooter is chock full of content and some of the best FPS gameplay around. From the Crucible PvP modes, casual PvE Strikes and destination patrols, all the way to the endgame Dungeons and Raids—the best content in the game—there’s something for just about everyone in Destiny 2. If you have friends that have been trying to convince you to hop in but have been faced with the mountainous paywall for most of the game’s content, you can summit it much easier with the entire collection on sale for 81% off, making it less than $21. -ADF

TOEM: A Photo Adventure
A wonderfully charming hand-drawn adventure game where you travel through fun environments, meet funny characters, and solve their problems by taking snapshots of the world around you. This is a cozy game with a few heartfelt moments and at 90% off, it’s just $2, which is quite a little treat. TOEM 2 just came out as well, so if you like it, there’s more to enjoy. -CM

Crusader Kings 3
Grand strategy games can be overwhelming and opaque, but Crusader Kings 3 is one of the easier titles in the genre to explore because of its focus on the humanity of the ruler. You can control a historical figure or create your own character, then guide them through a lifetime of leadership. True to history, things can get wonderfully unhinged and dramatic – there’s room for affairs, assassinations, grudges, sabotage, rebellion, and war. The base game is 70% off, or $15, and then there are a couple of DLC packs with discounts as well. -CM

Lobotomy Corporation
You know how when corporations decide to keep monsters in confinement, things inevitably go horribly wrong? Lobotomy Corporation is a monster management simulation game with narrative elements. It’s your job to keep these creatures under control so you can harness their energy, expand the facility, and deal with the inevitable breakout. This game is 66% off, making it just under $9. -CM

Children of the Sun
A stylish puzzle-shooter about a girl getting revenge on a cult with a series of meticulously planned shots. You play the bullet, winding your way through levels and exploiting the environment to rack up damage. Children of the Sun is built on an inventive and robust central mechanic, and you can pick it up for under $4. -CM

Chorus
It feels like there aren’t many solid dogfighting games out there, and if you’re interested in taking to the skies, you should check out Chorus. This is a space combat shooter with some very fun fights, and while the plot is a little bit nonsensical, it’s also mostly just an excuse to go from encounter to encounter, and those are some very well designed aircraft challenges. The game is 90% off, which puts it at under $3. -CM

The Division 2
While the spy-thriller politics of The Division 2 feel bizarre in 2026, this is an incredibly solid third person looter shooter with incremental progression, robust co-op play, optional PvP, and for 90% off, it’s a steal at $3. -CM

Rollerdrome
Rollerdrome is a skate-shooter set in a near-future dystopia ruled by corporations. It’s a game with fluid movement, lethal shooting, and cleverly designed battles. You play an aspirant competing to become the Rollerdrome champion, but the further you go, the more you’re drawn into investigating the mysteries behind the Matterhorn corporation. At 75% off, you can pick this up for $7. -CM
