Titanium Court is a fae-fueled adventure that threatens to drown in whimsy

Titanium Court's strategy is hidden beneath layers of whimsy and wonder

Explaining what Titanium Court actually is to someone is more difficult than you’d imagine. It’s a game that’s already picked up GOTY buzz from some big names. It’s a roguelite match-3 strategy game with visual novel intervals. It’s a game where you drink a love potion, but instead of causing a non-consensual obsession with another person, it just makes you kind of like baseball more — even though the people at the court aren’t sure what baseball is. There’s a lot of sports imagery going on here, actually.

Titanium Court is earnest. Titanium Court is whimsical. Titanium Court may actually be too whimsical. It’s a theatre kid made manifest as a video game. There are people who are going to laugh delightedly and often while playing this game — and there are some really funny moments and clever lines to enjoy. Other players are going to either find it a little too esoteric and opaque, or they may even think it’s downright cringe.
