As if launching a Kickstarter this week wasn't a big enough splash, Double Fine Productions has revealed Thank You Bus Driver, their first indie game under their new publishing division, and it looks like a hoot.

Thank You Bus Driver puts you at the wheel as you drive around town, picking up passengers, delivering them to their destination, and enforcing the rules of the bus as you see fit. The rules you and your bus depot impose change day to day and your passengers aren't too keen on following them. Turning around to deliver a little reminder of just who is in charge in the form of a slap is the name of the game. Repeat offenders can even be tossed out the back of the bus if they end up being too rowdy.

The big reward you're looking for are Thank Yous. Passengers will give you Thank Yous for delivering them in a timely manner — that's it. They don't care what other drivers you run off the road, neighbors' lawns you cut through, or fences you smash; your only goal is to deliver your well behaved passengers before they get mad.

Thank You Bus Driver is the first game coming from Double Fine Action Labs, the new in-house publishing arm of the studio that is built to support smaller, stranger indie games that don't take as long to make, according to an interview with Jason Schreier.

No release date was provided for Thank You Bus Driver, but you can wishlist the game on Steam later today.
