One of the worst kept secrets over the last month or so has finally been announced today with a stylish GTA6 cover reveal-inspired trailer. No, you're not dreaming: Shrek 2 Remastered is real.

A remake of the 2004 Shrek 2 movie tie-in game, Shrek 2 Remastered has been announced by Aspyr on social media today. The new game has been rebuilt for the modern era with "better textures, enhanced UI, 4K resolution and cutscenes." Aspyr, who worked on the Mac port back in the day, has also included a brand new Photo Mode and Cheats Menu, adding both modern and classic, 2000's-era amenities. Like the original game, this comes with 4-player offline and online co-op, or your preferred mix of the two.

I played the original back when it came out with my younger brothers and while we had fun with it, I'm not completely sure who this game is for, coming some odd 22 years after the original's release. That said, celebrating a movie that captures a similar vibe to what GTA6's trailers have been going for by remastering a classic isn't a bad way to do it. Who doesn't love Shrek 2?

Shrek 2 Remastered will be available on all platforms on November 10th for $29.99. If you pre-order the game by November 9th, you'll receive a 10% discount. Make sure you check those PC specs if that's the way you're choosing to go with this one. They're surprisingly steep, despite also releasing on Nintendo Switch 1.
