Windrose is a mega-hit, and upon playing the pirate survival game, I 100% understand why

It’s happening again.

Every once in a while, I’m living my life, being a nice person, when everyone I know starts delightedly talking about some new survival game. Your friends are playing it, it’s on the front page of Twitch, and it’s sold a ton of copies out of nowhere. These random survival crazes can be unpredictable, but it’s inevitable. At any time, you, or someone you love, could be roped into playing a survival crafter with the crew. It’s happened to me with the new pirate game duo jour, Windrose, and yeah, I absolutely get why this game is a megahit.

Windrose is a game that takes place in the year 17XX, in an alternate history where the Age of Piracy is at its height. And also there are skeletons and curses. It’s very easy to explain Windrose to someone who’s familiar with the source material: It’s like, Valheim design, Enshrouded controls, and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag ship combat.
