Hull Rupture is a zany space ship manager where you play the evil AI
Hull Rupture mixes ship management, tower defense, and roguelite for a satisfying if silly loop
Hull Rupture is a space game with a satisfying loop: accumulate resources, build modules that produce more resources, set up defenses, go through a wave of combat, and then shop for upgrades. The game begins with a lot of information thrown at the player, and it’s easy for one’s eyes to glaze over, but push on through because once you get over the initial hurdle and find your feet, there’s a lot to enjoy in this scrappy little roguelike.
I’m playing as Earth’s Despot, an AI that survived the destruction of our homeworld and is now out for revenge. While our alien enemies paint me as an evil monster, I like to think I’m pretty benevolent. My ship is stacked with hard-working humans, and yes: some of them are converted into fuel. But that’s just me making a gentle suggestion; the volunteers seem fairly eager to run into the bioreactor and cannonball into a pool of acid.
